Weeks 10 and 11 Ideal Protein Diet

I have been remiss in my posting lately.  Busy getting ready for the holidays.
Still doing the protocol very strictly, and still doing very well.
Week 10 - 1.6 lbs lost for the week, total loss 31.4
Week 11 - 5.2 lbs losts fot the week, total loss 36.6 !
(somewhere along the way I think I got messed up with what week I was on) - Next week is 12 weeks, so this should be 11..I don't know what happened - does it really matter?

I am NOT making this up.  These are REAL results just by following the Ideal Protein plan to the letter!
I have not been exercising very much - couple of 1 - 1.5 hour hikes with a freind and our dogs, but I could certainly do more.
Went to freinds for a big dinner last weekend.  Turkey and all the fixings.  We all brought something.  I brought mashed cauli, and roasted veggies with ginger.  Hubby and I had to pass on most of the other dishes, and of course - NO Alcohol, but we still enjoyed the evening very much and everything turned out really well.

My plan is to weigh in next week (and take measurements) and I may not go in until after the new year - we shall see.  Sounds like the 'ol man is going to be more strict with himself over the holidays, but my ma and pa are going to be at our place for around 4 or 5 days, so I am going to relax a bit and hopefully not gain too much of this back.  THEN - back on this religiously - only another 10 or 12 weeks and I should be at my goal weight.  I would like to learn how to maintain.

Week 8 Ideal Protein Diet

LOST 4 lbs last week!  AWESOME!
TOTAL loss to date 29.8lbs!
Measurements taken.  I am now down 15.5 inches.
Measured my husband as well - he is down 36.5 inches!  He is still not weighing, as he does not want the emotional roller coaster.  BUT - doing the math, I think he is likely down around 70lbs!  Pretty impressive for 8 weeks.!
Neither one of us is really exercising.  I have done a little bit of hiking on the weekends (not much).  He has increased his activity a bit - because he is feeling so good - but not "exercise" in the typical way people think of it.
Ideal Protein protocol WORKS!  I am so impressed!

Week 7 Ideal Protein Diet

Another week, another great loss!
When you hear "average loss for women is between 3 and 4 lbs per week".  Most of us think "oh ya, I have heard that before!".
This week -- 7th week done - LOSS of 3.0 lbs!  Total loss 25.8!
Seriously!
No major cravings, I guess that roller coaster that they talk about -- being caused from the sugar highs and lows - really is true.
Measurements taken - Total inches lost for me:  15.5"  (YES, they are taken in a total of 9 places - but I do not care!  It just proves that I am getting smaller, agreeing with what my clothes are telling me.
My hubby (who I have mentioned is NOT stepping on the scale) is down an INCREDIBLE 36.5"!!  WOW.  For the short amount of time we have been on this, that is more than impressive!  He is feeling great (as am I).
2/3 rds of our way through this 3 month committment!  It has gone by pretty quickly.
tty soon..

Week 6 Ideal Protein Diet

GREAT week -- down another 3.2 lbs for a total of 22.8!
WOW - will this success ever stop?
I am a few days late in posting these results ....weigh in was last week.
1/2 way through this 12 week commitment - and very pleased.
I AM looking forward to easing off a bit over Christmas, but seeing the results makes sticking with it easier.
Hubby was away for a few days (*he took his protein packs with him and meat and veggies - and stuck to the program while he was away!)...I will admit to thinking on the way home one evening "he will never know if I stop and buy some BEER!" - BUT I did not, and I am happy with myself because of it.
There have been a couple of days where I had my 3 protein packs for the day (including 1 "restricted"), and I got the muchies later on in the evening - so I have given in and had a second restricted item.  NOT approved and NOT a good idea, BUT I am still losing, so I guess that choice was better than going all whole hog and getting a bag of chips or something.
Hope all is well in your world - imagine yourself 22 lbs thinner in 6 weeks!

Week 5 Ideal Protein Diet

Oops - it has taken me a bit to check in..
Last week's loss was again AWESOME - 3 more lbs...
Total loss to date 19.6.  for 5 weeks!  (my weigh in was a couple of days late, so it has actually been a bit past the 5 weeks).
No issues, all is well.  Don't expect any trick-or-treaters, so I have no candy or chocolates in the house.  That is a good thing.
My jeans are getting down right loose...guess I should go "shopping" in my closet for the next size down!  (I have all sizes between here and where I want to be !)...

Week 4 Ideal Protein Diet

Weigh in this week was AWESOME!  Down 4.6 lbs -- for a total of 16.6 - in 4 WEEKS.  Pretty impressive.  Measurements taken this week - I am down 8.5 inches.
My husband is down a very impressive 21 inches..  Oh ya - that is NOT a typo - Twenty-one inches!  So, he HAS to be down 30 to 40 lbs!  He is down a shirt size - and very happy about it.
Neither one of us has cheated in the slightest way.  There has NOT been a non approved food cross our lips in 1 whole month.
I am going away this weekend, to stay at a friend's house.  I am sure it will be a challenge, and there will be more temptations, but I just need to remember how much better I am feeling, and that the rewards are great.  Hoping for the best.
"They" say that it takes a month to really stop a habit...so I guess it has happened.  I really am not craving beer, or any other carbs - so it does make staying "on plan" easier.  Herbal Tea after dinner has become a standard around our house.
Have a great week - kmac

Week 3 Ideal Protein Diet

Down another 3 lbs!  I am pretty pleased with that.  My official loss now is 12 lbs!  Considering it has only been 3 weeks I am okay with the rate at which it is coming off.  I am now starting to feel my jeans are a bit loose.  They were getting rather "snug" when I started.  As a big girl I do know that it takes a minimum of 20 lbs of loss in order to be down a size ( I know that slimmer people only need to lose approx.10 lbs and they go down a size)... Regardless - pretty soon I will be down to the next "stage" of jeans in my closet.  Looking forward to that!  ( I have many stages to get through!)  I really need those size markers that they have in the department store - size 18, size 16, size 14 etc. etc.
So -- goal of 70 lbs to lose - down 12, therefore, I am already 17% of the way to goal.  This commitment that hubby and I have made - for 12 weeks of dedicated weight loss, we are 1/4 of the way through that.  It has gone by pretty quickly.  Only 9 weeks to go!  And then we will take a short break over Christmas and try to maintain and get back "on the wagon" in the new year.
We are definately craving carbs less.  Still have the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner, but a cup of tea with Splenda tends to curb that and get us through until bedtime.
I miss drinking beer - not the alcohol even, but just the habit of relaxing after a day of work and sipping on an ice cold beer.  I am now having a cold ice tea (5 calories - made from those instant flavoring packs with Splenda) - but it is somehow not the same.
I also miss the action of snacking.  I am not hungry - those protein packs and the large amount of meat at dinner really DO fill a person up - BUT I find I am missing the absent minded snacking. (which I suppose got me here in the first place!).  I have dug out a frayed edge denim quilt that I have been working on for years, and I dug out my knitting.  Those things are helping some.
Until next time - kmac

Week 2 Ideal Protein Diet

Second weigh in yesterday - down 3.2.
Total loss to date (according to the "official" scale - 9.2 lbs.
My home scale in the AM showed a bigger loss, but I am still happy with the results.
Have not strayed AT ALL off plan.  Missing beer, and evening snacking.  But those are just habits (that got me to my overweight state!).
Hubby and I have decided to just skip Thanksgiving (Cdn) this weekend, that way we increase our odds of staying on the plan.  We really want to be dedicated for 3 months, and hopefully the results at that time will motivate us to either stay on it, or pick it up really quickly after Christmas.  Our intent as of today is to relax a little bit over the Christmas holiday and hopefully not gain back much of what we have lost.
My hubby is still not weighing, but you can see it in his face and his ankles and basically all over.  He is like me and has a large amount to take off, but if we focus on this as a few step process I am hoping we will get to a healthy weight for both of us.
Take care - Until Next Time - kmac

First Week on Ideal Protein

I started this blog because when I was considering the Ideal Protein diet, I could not find many other blogs of people who have done this diet and how they have done.
So - here is my story..
My husband of 21 years and I started this on September 19, 2011.
Week one -- my loss was "officially" 6 lbs.
I weighed in on the 15th of Sept, and that last weekend before staring I gained 3 lbs!  So - I ACTUALLY lost 9 lbs.  But - either way, I am happy with the results.
I found the first 4 days pretty easy.  No major headaches or any of the other things that I had read about.  All is well.
