Week 5 Ideal Protein Diet

Oops - it has taken me a bit to check in..
Last week's loss was again AWESOME - 3 more lbs...
Total loss to date 19.6.  for 5 weeks!  (my weigh in was a couple of days late, so it has actually been a bit past the 5 weeks).
No issues, all is well.  Don't expect any trick-or-treaters, so I have no candy or chocolates in the house.  That is a good thing.
My jeans are getting down right loose...guess I should go "shopping" in my closet for the next size down!  (I have all sizes between here and where I want to be !)...

Week 4 Ideal Protein Diet

Weigh in this week was AWESOME!  Down 4.6 lbs -- for a total of 16.6 - in 4 WEEKS.  Pretty impressive.  Measurements taken this week - I am down 8.5 inches.
My husband is down a very impressive 21 inches..  Oh ya - that is NOT a typo - Twenty-one inches!  So, he HAS to be down 30 to 40 lbs!  He is down a shirt size - and very happy about it.
Neither one of us has cheated in the slightest way.  There has NOT been a non approved food cross our lips in 1 whole month.
I am going away this weekend, to stay at a friend's house.  I am sure it will be a challenge, and there will be more temptations, but I just need to remember how much better I am feeling, and that the rewards are great.  Hoping for the best.
"They" say that it takes a month to really stop a habit...so I guess it has happened.  I really am not craving beer, or any other carbs - so it does make staying "on plan" easier.  Herbal Tea after dinner has become a standard around our house.
Have a great week - kmac

Week 3 Ideal Protein Diet

Down another 3 lbs!  I am pretty pleased with that.  My official loss now is 12 lbs!  Considering it has only been 3 weeks I am okay with the rate at which it is coming off.  I am now starting to feel my jeans are a bit loose.  They were getting rather "snug" when I started.  As a big girl I do know that it takes a minimum of 20 lbs of loss in order to be down a size ( I know that slimmer people only need to lose approx.10 lbs and they go down a size)... Regardless - pretty soon I will be down to the next "stage" of jeans in my closet.  Looking forward to that!  ( I have many stages to get through!)  I really need those size markers that they have in the department store - size 18, size 16, size 14 etc. etc.
So -- goal of 70 lbs to lose - down 12, therefore, I am already 17% of the way to goal.  This commitment that hubby and I have made - for 12 weeks of dedicated weight loss, we are 1/4 of the way through that.  It has gone by pretty quickly.  Only 9 weeks to go!  And then we will take a short break over Christmas and try to maintain and get back "on the wagon" in the new year.
We are definately craving carbs less.  Still have the habit of wanting something sweet after dinner, but a cup of tea with Splenda tends to curb that and get us through until bedtime.
I miss drinking beer - not the alcohol even, but just the habit of relaxing after a day of work and sipping on an ice cold beer.  I am now having a cold ice tea (5 calories - made from those instant flavoring packs with Splenda) - but it is somehow not the same.
I also miss the action of snacking.  I am not hungry - those protein packs and the large amount of meat at dinner really DO fill a person up - BUT I find I am missing the absent minded snacking. (which I suppose got me here in the first place!).  I have dug out a frayed edge denim quilt that I have been working on for years, and I dug out my knitting.  Those things are helping some.
Until next time - kmac

Week 2 Ideal Protein Diet

Second weigh in yesterday - down 3.2.
Total loss to date (according to the "official" scale - 9.2 lbs.
My home scale in the AM showed a bigger loss, but I am still happy with the results.
Have not strayed AT ALL off plan.  Missing beer, and evening snacking.  But those are just habits (that got me to my overweight state!).
Hubby and I have decided to just skip Thanksgiving (Cdn) this weekend, that way we increase our odds of staying on the plan.  We really want to be dedicated for 3 months, and hopefully the results at that time will motivate us to either stay on it, or pick it up really quickly after Christmas.  Our intent as of today is to relax a little bit over the Christmas holiday and hopefully not gain back much of what we have lost.
My hubby is still not weighing, but you can see it in his face and his ankles and basically all over.  He is like me and has a large amount to take off, but if we focus on this as a few step process I am hoping we will get to a healthy weight for both of us.
Take care - Until Next Time - kmac
